A BILL to amend article five, chapter eighteen of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
forty-one, relating to the employment of school secretaries
in schools with six or more persons assigned instructional
duties and additional secretarial services for schools with
enrollments of four hundred or more pupils.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article five, chapter eighteen of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
forty-one, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 5. COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION.
ยง18-5-41. Providing adequate secretarial services.
A county board of education shall, by the school year one
thousand nine hundred ninety-three -- ninety-four, and continue
thereafter, employ at least one full-day school secretary in anyelementary, secondary, kindergarten, special education,
vocational or any other school in which six or more persons are
employed with assigned instructional duties. If fewer than six
instructional employees are assigned to a school, a half-time
secretary will be provided. An additional full-day secretary
shall be employed in the schools with a pupil enrollment that
exceeds four hundred. The number of work days for secretaries
shall be the same as the principal.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require at least one
secretary to be employed in each school that employs six or more
persons assigned instructional duties and additional secretarial
services for schools with four hundred or more pupils.
